Amy Morgan June 7, 2026 Matthew 9:9-13 As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax-collection station, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. And as he sat at dinner in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and were sitting with Jesus and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when he heard this, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous but sinners.” There is something seriously wrong with Matthew.  When Jesus tells the Pharisees that Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick, the Greek word translated as “sick,” kakos , does not primarily mean physically weak or ...

Amy Morgan May 31, 2026 Matt. 28:16-20 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshiped him, but they doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” This is the end of the story. We’ve just heard the very last words of Jesus, the final sentence in the Gospel of Matthew.
